BEHIND THE LENS
I began my exploration into photography when I was about ten years old. I was fascinated with capturing a moment in time - but eventually became more intrigued with the moving image. Still imagery to me became boring.
I learned cinematography, images that move; and worked on documentaries, commercials, TV and features. I loved the ability to "re-create" reality and if we didn't get it perfect, we could always do another take.
Recently, I have "rediscoved" the still image - a medium that doesn't allow you a second chance or another take. A fraction of time in which people, places and things tell a story in a split-second rather than two hours as with movies.
I am intrigued with the images that are out of place, out of time and out of character. My curiosity with the past is ever present in most of what I choose to photograph.
